1916 Lake Villa

The villa has a lot of windows and natural light. On a sunny winter day, we could sit on these window benches.

On a cold winter night, we could sit in the Inglenook. The black square in the center is a fireplace. There are benches on either side of the fireplace. The square piece of wood above the fireplace is a piece of rafter from the roof of the Alamo. It has an incredible scene of the battle of the Alamo carved in it by a Swedish artist. We'll sell that hunk of wood and furnish this house up right.

The back doors that just happen to look out on...

The back patio and a lake

Looking into the den from the front foyer. The house is quality built and uses oak on the inside.

A rose window created in the stucco exterior

The front of the Villa

A fountain on the grounds

The grounds have many sculptures

The rear of the house. The top bedroom on the 3rd floor is going to be mine. Best pick yours out while there is a good selection left!

We'll walk down to the lake in a minute

OH good, the house does have a dragon.

View of true lake from the back yard. No Boathouse? We'll take care of that!

The 16 acre grounds sits on a peninsula. The lake on one side and a large lagoon on two more sides.

All the gates around the house and grounds are Texas styled. That means we love to stick  stars on things. (Click on any picture to enlarge)

Lots of nice views in the grounds. All the trails have lights strung along them so we can  go walking on nice evenings.

She is standing at he ned of a large pier in the lagoon. The pier is enclosed in a fishing net.

The fishing net is little men woven together. They are not all the same.

San Angelo, Texas- Downtown

San Angelo is home to Angelo State University, historic Fort Concho, and Goodfellow Air Force Base which specializes  in cryptology and general intelligence career fields for Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy.

A part of Lake Nasworthy; a very pretty lake and beautiful parks along the shore.  A storm is rolling in ...

Historic Downtown

The shops were interesting

We saw several bootmakers here

Several bars in town; this looked like a good place to hear some blues.

The store on the left is very popular !

In the pioneer days, this was the place for fun and relaxation.

The downtown has some great murals...loved this one

A famous Texas author

the military history of San Angelo

This church was very pretty

Then there is an issue of sheep everywhere; there are over fifteen in the downtown area; contests are held for the most artistic.  Here is a small sampling.

This guy has such a sheepish grin!

spot the butterfly

Thanks for the advise Bob

Loved Frostie as a child

Too much cool stuff in here

Love old theaters. I have enough pictures for a separate post.

So, downtown also has a riverwalk and the the historical fort is a few blocks away.  The weather was getting pretty stormy, so we did not have the time to explore those sights.  We did have time for one more stop before the rain ruined our day.  Check our next blog on the waterlilies in San Angelo.
