Turquoise Trail Scenic Byway

The scenic byway runs from Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The drive is approximately 50 miles along Highway 14. A wildfire north of Santa Fe created some haze today , but a cool front blew in;  it was a pleasant 78 degrees. What a reprieve after the 100 plus temps yesterday!

saw this cacti blooming all along the roadside

This is the town of Madrid along the byway; it was once a mining town, but  now thrives as an artsy community

Yep, mailboxes, something that is fading from society; you don't see them much anymore.  Some people got creative...of course it is an art community.  All the shopkeepers were very sweet people.
