Crossing the Mackinac Bridge

Leaving Traverse City, we drove up Hwy 31 and saw more little port towns.  This is the lake at Charlevoix, Mi.

First glimpse of the bridge

On the bridge...Mackinac Island in the distance...what a beautiful sky!

View of Mackinac Island from the bridge

By treaty, Canada and The U.S. can each have one warship on the Great Lakes. Guess this  is one.

Jet Ferry Boats take people to the Island.

Spans in background. We will be 200 ft over the water on the roadway.

Looking NW at the UP

The bridge is the third longest suspension bridge in the world.

Click to enlarge and read the sign.  It looks like a lot of people plan on going sailing while in the "UP".
