Ludington, Michigan

The downtown is shut down for several hours every Friday for a Farmer's Market followed by live entertainment. There were several entertainment establishments in the area.

The City Beach is long and popular. The city runs several concession stands in the area.

The obligatory lighthouse.

The city also has a large public marina, and a boat launch, with a huge park next to the marina.

One of the fish cleaning stations at the marina. the fish looked pretty big. I think they were salmon.

A lot of towns here are petunia crazy and line the curbs with them

We decided to take Michigan 116 up to the Ludington state park about eight miles away.

The drive had a lot of nice dunes

People parked along 116 and walked to the beach. There were many people in the water.

As you can see, a pretty popular place to go to the beach.  The state park was full, but luckily along the road there were just a few places left by 1:00.
