Day Trippin - Hunt and Ingram Texas on the Gaudalupe

Our RV spot is just down the road.  Ahead is the town of Kerrville. To the right is Goat Creek. For the past month, we have loved driving into town following this creek.  Sadly, no houses for sale. About 5 miles to the west of Kerrville is a town called Ingram which sits on the river. We both have always dreamed of living around Hunt or Ingram.
A local resident of Ingram.
This is the main attraction in Ingram.  Where the water overspills, you place your tube and get a pretty good ride.  The water is still a bit chilly on a cloudy day, but it does not stop these teenagers!
The bridge crossing in Ingram...ahhh, ain't it pretty?
Yeah, we think we would like living here.  Their property is on the river of course.
Hunt, Texas - just down the road a bit from Ingram.

Wildseed Farms - Fredricksburg, Texas

7 miles east of Fredericksburg on 290 is the largest wildflower farm in the nation.

Over 200 acres are planted with a wide variety of wildlfowers; spring is the best time to visit of course.

Shasta Daisy

Indian Blanket

Blue Salvia---the butterflies go crazy over these.
Never seen so many butterflies

Mix on the edge of the property. Seeded themselves.

VW Rally Fredricksburg - Part 2 Lined up for Competition

Lots of beautiful bugs everywhere

A great collection of buses and campers

The interiors of some of these sleepers were amazing--you really need to enlarge theses to get all the detail that went into it.

Yep, that is a waterbed in this baby

This is what the above sleeper looked like on opposite of the bed, and yes, incense was burning.

Heck, when we had VW Camper wish we would have thought of adding a patio...this one was too cute and practical

Wayne has always dreamed of having one of these.
Now what gal wouldn't mind sporting around town in this beauty!

Sunday's VW Show

Had to go back and see more and yes they had Der Karman Ghias

Und Der 411s

and der cool conversions including one for my Grandson

But I came to look at my faves

Some interiors are a little more hippie-ish than others (but the incense smelled good!)

21 window van (sigh)

Some people feel restoring them takes away from their beauty

Traveling in a fried out Kombi, on a hippie trail head full of zombie, (hey c'mon, you know the words, Sing Along!) I met a strange lady, she made me nervous.....

Not everyone who drives these is a hippy.

Lots of Things at the show.

This one runs on beer. ( To enlarge any picture just click on it)

Yes, they had a girlie section.

The Beetles used to be so common, people would chop up the damaged ones and make dune buggies.

He had me convinced about Texas Suceeding until I looked at his car.

The earlier models had six volt systems

No motor up front? Well, just wax in a cool sound system.

People used to chop the back off and put those Novelty hoods on.

Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Kharman Ghia...
