California Gold- Day Trippin - Amador City

Heading north up Hwy 49 from Sutter Creek, is the town of Amador City.  This town was one of the most productive in the Mother Lode.

This is all that remains of the mine.

The city was built about a quarter of a mile from the mine.  It is not the thriving town it once was nor as commercialized as Sutter Creek had become, but there was a certain charm about the place.

Notice the roof top...

A grand old house that overlooks the town.

A much prettier creek than Sutter Creek.

We noticed a certain whimsy to people's yards in the the area

You have to enlarge it to appreciate it.
