Steeler Colony In Cave Creek, AZ

A Texan walks into this bar and there's about 300 people wearing Steeler Jerseys.....
and its 11 in the morning

From "Go John" Trail

So I've "fired" Jeanette from being a navigator and after the trail she picked this morning's walk, her position as "health coach" is in jeopardy. It was only a little over three miles but the terrain changes picked my butt!

A Morning Walk in Phoenix

See Jeanette and Kobe hiding in the shadows?

Not used to sunshine so I need to start minding my shadows.

Welcome To Arizona

And now they have competition!

Cool multi-colored berries on this tree

Heading up toward Globe, Az on Highway 70.  We drove through an Apache reservation--too depressing.  If you lived in a twenty year old mobile home, you were top dog.  But... the scenery was spectacular.
Stayed at a Casino last night. Went and played slots for fifteen minutes. Hit a good jackpot and thought, "Hey, Why give it back to them?', so I cashed in and walked out. Thats what winners do.

It was a slow day

So we decided to have a sign naming contest
She calls this one "Beware of Rattlesnakes"

She calls this one "Guy from La Marque goes out of town"

I call this one, "She takes a lickin, but keeps on ticking".

As the desert miles roll slowly by

above a small, strange air force base, I know not why,

this strange white object just hung in the sky

How to go shopping in Alpine

First you go get some body fuel at The Reata which has the best chicken tortilla soup anywhere.

Even if your horse threw you up on Cheroot Pass, you gotta have that soup

The Amtrak train blocks the road so don't let it hit you. Its tougher than that horse.

Decide if you want to go west ...

or east....
then take a long a man to carry all your shopping bags. It helps if its a beautiful fall day.

A Morning Walk in Alpine, Tx

Ok, walking is not always good for you.

Jeanette Drives the Big Rig

She cooks, she cleans, she pushes the diesel hard through the West Texas Hills.  Looking into my crystal ball, I see a lot more afternoon naps in my future.

The stars are bright...deep in the heart of Texas

Our camping spot is directly across from the star gazing arena, an enclosed 'maze' to eliminate the lights of surrounding rvs.   Now you know if an RV park has a star gazing arena as an amenity, then the night sky our here has to be spectacular.  Great weather here...sunshine and humidity 7%, so even though the temp drops into 30's at night, you can sit out in comfort and watch the universe.  A nice way to spend the evening.

Caverns of Sonora

Jeanette and I were the only ones on the tour. Very interesting rock formations. Our favorite cavern.
